How commissions work

Every suit starts with a quote form and ends with a suit that fits only you. Here is exactly what happens in between, so you know what to expect before you apply.

  1. 1. Check the base prices

The prices page shows what each partial, full suit and separate part starts at. They are base prices, so treat them as a starting point rather than a final total.

  2. 2. Fill in a quote form

Quote forms open one month before the commission slots do. Send in a clear reference sheet and pick the options you want. You will get a document back with your request and a quote price, based on things like the number of fur colours, fur types, design complexity and extras.

  3. 3. Apply for a commission slot

When the slots open, apply using the quote document from that month's round. Quote documents from earlier openings are not valid, because those prices may be out of date. A quote does not reserve a slot by itself.

  4. 4. Claim your slot

In the week after applications close you will get an email telling you whether you have a slot. Reply within 48 hours to claim it.

  5. 5. Pay the down payment

A 30% down payment confirms the commission and covers the materials. It is non-refundable. The rest is paid either in full or in up to three pre-planned instalments, by PayPal or bank transfer.

  6. 6. Send your measurements

Measurements go in centimetres and need to be accurate. For a full suit you also make and send a duct tape dummy of your body. Ask me if you want tutorials for making one.

  7. 7. Follow along while it is made

You get an update at least once a week, including the quiet weeks. If anything in an update looks off to you, say so straight away, because most things are easy to change while the work is still in progress.

  8. 8. Pick it up or have it shipped

Once the suit is paid off you can collect it at the studio or at a convention by appointment, or have it sent as a secured PostNL shipment. You get a care sheet with it, which is worth reading before the first wear.
